Additional costs covered
In a covered legal case, advice and protection of interests are provided by the lawyers and legal experts employed by Assista. The lawyers provide insured persons with information on legal issues from the private sphere under Swiss law. Legal information is provided via the lexCall function on the lex4you platform (lex4you.ch). In addition, Assista will cover the costs of necessary legal protection services up to the maximum sum insured listed in the policy.

Waiting period
No waiting period applies to the following insured risks:
compensation law, insurance law, patient law, criminal law, threat, coercion, extortion, skimming, credit card abuse, administrative proceedings, and legal advice in personal, family, and inheritance law.A waiting period of two months from the start of the insurance applies to all other insured risks.

Exclusions and benefit reductions can be found in the customer information and General Terms and Conditions of Insurance (GTCI) for Postfinance legal protection for private individuals.
Choice of lawyer
If the involvement of a lawyer is necessary to protect the interests of the insured persons, Assista recommends a lawyer from its network. Alternatively, and with Assista’s approval, the insured person may choose another locally competent lawyer.
Procedure in the event of futility or disagreement
The insured persons have the right to initiate arbitration proceedings within 90 days of receiving Assista’s letter.
Notice period
From the second year of insurance, both the policyholder and Assista may terminate the insurance by giving one month’s notice to the end of a calendar month. After receiving the policy, the applicant has a 14-day right of withdrawal.
Contract duration
The insurance is valid for one year and is then tacitly extended for another year.
Procedure in the event of a claim
If an insured legal case arises, the policyholder or a co-insured person must report it to Assista immediately.

PostFinance legal protection insurance can optionally be supplemented by comprehensive tenant and building legal protection as well as Internet legal protection.

Insured persons
Individual: Covers the policyholder named in the policy in their capacity as a driver of motor vehicles and watercraft (incl. e-scooters), as owner and holder of private motor vehicles and watercraft registered in their name in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, and as holder of a driving licence recognised in Switzerland for vehicles intended for road traffic or private boating.
Family: Covers the policyholder named in the policy and persons living with them in the same household. Under traffic legal protection, passengers residing in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein and travelling in vehicles driven by the insured persons are also covered; paid or commercial journeys are excluded.

There is no waiting period for the following insured risks:
damages law, insurance law, criminal law and administrative proceedings.For all other insured risks, a waiting period of 2 months applies from the start of insurance.
