TCS products

  • TCS (Personal legal protection)


    Individual: Policyholder

    Family: Policyholder and the following persons living in the same household: spouse or partner and their children
    Furthermore: domestic staff while at work, and children who live elsewhere, but are registered at the address of their insured parent(s), are undergoing education or professional training and under 25 years of age.

    The insured persons are covered in their capacity as:

    • private individuals
    • employed persons at work
    • tenants/renters
    • parties to a contract
    • pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians
    • passengers of a means of transport

    • Tenancy law (for renters)
    • Consumer rights and other contracts
    • Travel law
    • Patient rights
    • Insurance law
    • Tort law
    • Criminal and administrative law (except for offences committed intentionally and not in self-defence or a state of necessity)
    • Legal counsel in the areas of law of persons, family law (including marriage, divorce, civil union and marriage-like union) and law of succession up to CHF 500 per case

    Up to CHF 500,000 per insured event or up to CHF 100,000 if the geographical scope of application is "worldwide"; for legal counsel up to CHF 500 (per case)

    • Compensation for damage or personal suffering
    • The costs that a third party or a liability insurance is obliged to bear

    Depending on the insured area, the cover applies:

    • in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein (up to CHF 500,000),
    • in the EU/EFTA (up to CHF 500,000),
    • worldwide (up to CHF 100,000).

    Insurance cover commences on the day after the premium is paid. There is a qualifying period of 3 months for contractual disputes.

    Legal cases concerning:

    • labour law if the insured person is an employer, board member or share holder or if he/she shares in the profits
    • ownership rights
    • criminal proceedings for deliberate offences or attempts thereat
    • disputes involving motor vehicles: covered through motor legal protection
    • intellectual property rights
    • debt enforcement and bankruptcy laws
    • collection of receivables
    • disputes resulting from the use of computer software and webhosting
    • disputes between persons who are insured under the same policy
    • disputes resulting from the policyholder's capacity as professional athlete or coach
    • proceedings before international and supranational courts

    The policyholder may freely choose a locally responsible lawyer if calling in an external lawyer is deemed necessary from a time- and case-related perspective.

    Arbitration proceedings are possible. The regulations of the Swiss Code of Civil Procedure apply.

    Notice of cancellation must be handed in 3 months before the annual due-date at the latest.

    According to term of insurance as stated in the policy (only annual contracts with automatic renewal).

    Action in case of a claim
    The insured person reports the legal incident as soon as possible. For further legal steps or the involvement of a lawyer, the insurance company has to be consulted.
  • TCS (Motor legal protection)


    Individual: Policyholder
    Family: Policyholder and the following persons living in the same household: spouse or partner, their children and other dependants

    Furthermore: children who live somewhere else, but are registered at the place of residence of the insured parent(s), still undergoing education or training and younger than 25 years of age; residents of Switzerland riding as passengers in cars driven by the policyholder, except for services against payment

    The insured persons are covered in their capacity as:

    • legitimate drivers of any motor vehicle on the road and privately used vessels
    • owners and keepers of vehicles
    • parties to a contract
    • pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, users of inline skates, skateboards, rollerskis, scooters, etc.
    • passengers of any means of transport
    • holders of a driving licence recognised by Swiss authorities

    • Road accidents
    • Patient's rights (in connection with a covered accident)
    • Travel laws
    • Disputes resulting from the use of offerings in the area of combined mobility (car-sharing and ride-sharing systems)
    • Property law

    Up to CHF 300,000 per insured event or up to CHF 50,000 if the geographical scope of application is "worldwide"

    Combined with a TCS private legal protection PLUS contract up to CHF 500,000 per insured event or up to CHF 100,000 if the geographical scope of application is "worldwide"

    • Mediation costs
    • Travel expenses resulting from court summonses if the costs exceed CHF 100
    • Translations from translators/interpreters
    • Cost of collection of compensation awarded to the insured person

    • Blood alcohol and similar tests and ordered medical examinations
    • Ordered traffic lessons

    Depending on the insured area, the cover applies:

    • worldwide (up to CHF 50,000),
    • in Switzerland (up to CHF 300,000),
    • in the EU/EEA(up to CHF 300,000),
    • in Europe (up to CHF 300,000).

    Combined with a TCS private legal protection PLUS contract:

    • worldwide (up to CHF 100,000),
    • in Switzerland (up to CHF 500,000),
    • in the EU/EEA(up to CHF 500,000),
    • in Europe (up to CHF 500,000).

    Insurance cover commences on the day after the premium is paid. There is a qualifying period of 3 months for contractual disputes that arose before insurance inception. This qualifying period does not apply if the holder had a previous insurance covering the same risk right up to the inception of the new policy.

    • active participation in races, rallies and other speed contests as well as race trainings
    • collection of receivables
    • disputes between persons who are insured under the same policy
    • disputes resulting from a committed felony or a deliberate misdemeanour or the attempt thereat
    • proceedings before international and supranational courts

    The policyholder may freely choose a locally responsible lawyer if calling in an external lawyer is deemed necessary from a time- and case-related perspective.

    Arbitration proceedings may be initiated. The regulations of the Swiss Code of Civil Procedure apply.

    Notice of cancellation must be handed in by the day of the annual due-date at the latest.

    According to contract duration as stated in policy (only annual contracts with automatic yearly renewal).
