Basic health insurance
Basic health insurance is compulsory for all residents of Switzerland. The benefits under basic insurance are specified in the Health Insurance Act (KVG) and are consistent across all health insurers. Health insurance providers are required to accept every applicant for basic health insurance, so applicants are completely free to choose their insurer.
