Valuables insurance belongs to the category of property insurance. It covers damage to pieces of jewellery, furs, paintings, musical instruments and other personal items of value due to theft, fire and water. Apart from common risks, it is usually also possible to insure these items against damage and destruction, misplacement and loss.

Lost or misplaced items

An item is considered misplaced or lost if its owner is unable to name its last location. Items that are missing because they have been misplaced or lost are not covered by contents insurance. However, there are special types of insurance for jewellery and valuables that provide protection against precisely these risks.
