Insured items
AXA's contents insurance covers all movable household goods used for private purposes at their original value. This also includes pets (small animals), leased, rented or entrusted items, digital assets (music, e-books etc.), e-bikes and mopeds with a max. speed of 45 km/h, and mobile installations (e.g. rabbit hutch) and their contents.

Theft
Damage caused by burglary, robbery and simple theft at home – away from home optional. Includes: Theft from locked vehicles

Fire
Damage caused by fire, smoke, lightning etc. including damage due to scorching.

Water

Damage caused by leakage of water or other liquids

  • from piping and connected installations

  • due to rain, snow or meltwater

  • due to backwater from the drainage system, groundwater etc.

  • due to frost damage

  • from fish tanks, waterbeds etc.

Glass breakage
Not covered

Limitations of cover

  • Maximum cover for jewellery usually CHF 2,000

  • Maximum cover for high-value contents: CHF 2,000 No cover is provided for simple theft.

  • Cover for professional equipment: CHF 20,000

  • Items no longer in use are only insured at their current value.

  • Maximum cover for costs arising in connection with the damage or loss (e.g. emergency doors, hotel expenses etc.): up to 5% of the sum insured, min. CHF 500.

Deductibles
The deductible is generally CHF 300 (CHF 500 for natural hazards).

Other points to note

  • If the policyholder is underinsured, the insurer will not reduce benefits if the claim is 10% of the sum insured or less. If agreed in the policy, AXA will not reduce benefits in the case of underinsurance (except natural hazards).

  • Cover for home contents outside the home (excluding simple theft) is the same as the sum insured at home.

  • Cover for entrusted items up to the sum insured.

Breakage of glass/stone elements of furniture: Breakage of furniture glass (e.g. glass of a cabinet, natural and artificial stone table tops including stone base) Breakage of windows, washbasins and building glass: Breakage of building glass such as windows, ceramic hobs, solar panels, kitchen worktops made of stone, dome lights and sanitary fittings made of glass, plastic, ceramic, porcelain or stone (washbasins, sinks, baths, shower trays, toilets and bidets).

  • Damage to caravans that belong to others and are permanently parked for residential purposes.

Cover for children / flatmates
All persons specified in the policy and who share an apartment with the policyholder are covered, irrespective of age.

Conditions applying to residential property
Liability is covered for the following property types in Switzerland (including the Principality of Liechtenstein):

  • A self-occupied property (under sole ownership) with a maximum of 3 apartments

  • A holiday home (singe-family house)

  • Undeveloped land

  • Liability claims resulting from condominium ownership as a complement to the homeowner association's existing property liability insurance

Deductibles
The deductible is generally CHF 500.

Limitations of cover

  • Cover for damage caused by children and other household members lacking mental capacity is limited to CHF 100,000.

  • Damage resulting from self-employed professional activity is covered up to an annual employment income of CHF 12,000.-

  • Principal's liability is included up to a construction sum of CHF 100,000.

Conditions applying to third-party vehicles
Basic insurance covers:

  • Damage to caravans that belong to others and are permanently parked for residential purposes.

Supplemental insurance covers:
Liability for the use of private motor vehicles, e.g. borrowed free of charge from friends or acquaintances (irrespective of frequency of use)

  • Damage to the vehicle if not covered by casco insurance, loss of bonus, deductible (if any), towing and recovery costs and the cost of a courtesy car.

  • Cover applies to vehicles up to 3.5 tons, watercraft and aircraft for which liability insurance is legally required.

The deductible is CHF 500.

Cover for children / flatmates
All persons specified in the policy and who share an apartment with the policyholder are covered, irrespective of age.
