If you intend to switch car insurance, you cannot simply cancel your old contract. In general, you will need to observe the policy period. In other words, you can cancel the contract either by the date of contract expiry or, if you have agreed an annual right of cancellation, by the end of the contract year.
The period of notice is usually three months. It is advisable to send your cancellation letter by registered mail.
