9.Summary

1. What is blue+?

blue+ is Swisscom’s paid streaming service. It is part of the “Swisscom blue” brand. blue+ is a Swiss alternative to US streaming providers such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.

blue+ replaces the previous Teleclub service.

Packages for different interests

blue+ includes three different packages: blue Premium, blue SuperMax and blue Sport. blue Premium offers a wide range of series and documentaries. blue SuperMax shows all films and series from Disney+, Paramount+ and Sky Cinema in one subscription. blue Sport shows all UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and top UEFA Europa Conference League games, among others.

Swisscom blue includes all entertainment offers from Swisscom. In addition to blue+, these include blue TV (formerly Swisscom TV) and the former services of Kitag Cinemas and Bluewin. In 2020, these brands were merged under blue Entertainment AG.

2. How much does blue+ cost?

blue Premium costs 19.90 francs per month, blue SuperMax 34.90 francs and blue Sport 49.90 francs.

Both the blue SuperMax and blue Sport subscriptions are cheaper if you sign up for a full year.

blue+ and blue TV

In addition to blue+, the Swisscom service also includes blue TV. blue TV is the basic TV offering with live TV from the provider. Depending on the subscription (M and L), this also includes blue play. This is also a streaming service with films and series, but free for blue TV M and L customers.

More on Swisscom blue plans

3. Who can use blue+?

Anyone with a compatible device. A Swisscom subscription is not necessary.

4. What is included in blue+?

Depending on the packages booked, what’s included in blue+ varies:

Package Price per month (in CHF) Offer
blue Premium 19.90
  • Large selection of series and documentaries
  • Full series offering from Sky Show included in HD and UHD
blue SuperMax 34.90 or 24.90 when you buy an annual plan
  • New series, seasons, blockbusters and cinema classics every month
  • Exclusive blue and other premium channels
  • Sky Cinema included
blue Sport 49.90 or 34.90 when you buy an annual plan

  • Additional sports content and magazines

Renting and buying films and sports events

blue+ offers the option of renting or buying films. This is often worthwhile if you only want to watch a specific film.

If you buy a film, it will be available for streaming for at least five years from the date of purchase. Once purchased, you can download the movie to your device. You can’t download movies in UHD quality.

Rented films are available for 48 hours after ordering. You can only stream the movie, not download it. If you only want to watch a single sporting event, you can also rent these as well.

5. Which devices can I use to watch blue+?

You can use blue+ on all devices where the blue TV app is available (for iOS (link available in German only) and Android):

  • Browser

  • Android and Apple mobile devices

  • Swisscom box

  • TV boxes from Sunrise UPC (blue+ content only), Quickline, Apple TV, net+ and Wingo

  • LG Smart TV (models from 2018 or later)

  • Samsung Smart TV (models from 2017 or later)

6. How can I cancel blue+?

You can cancel blue+ subscriptions as follows:

  • blue Premium: after a minimum term of six months

  • blue SuperMax and blue Sport: after a minimum term of 12 months

The notice period for cancelling is one month.

7. In what languages is the blue+ service available?

The language of the blue+ service depends on the package booked. Content is either in French or German, depending on what is booked. You can often also watch films, series and programmes in the original language.

8. What internet speed do I need to use blue+?

When streaming on blue+, the picture quality adapts to the internet speed. You can watch movies and series on mobile devices and computers in good quality with a bandwidth of 2 Mbps.

If you want to stream on TV, you should have an internet speed of at least 10 Mbps.

9. Summary

With blue+, Swisscom offers a comprehensive selection of films, series, TV shows and more. By dividing them into packages with different themes, customers can book only what they are interested in. However, unlike other streaming providers, the packages are expensive and offer less variety.

If you are interested in sports, it is worth comparing the service with Sky Sport and MySports. The sports and leagues on offer vary. If you want to watch all the games of the Super League, blue Sport should be the right choice.
