How to find a painter: here's how it works
Get quotes from painting companies for your project in three simple steps.
Describe your painting project on Comparis and complete the contact form. Your request is free and non-binding. We forward your details to Houzy.
Houzy reviews your request and selects suitable painting companies from its preselected network. Houzy may contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email to clarify any details. Houzy shares your data with the selected painting companies. Houzy processes your data independently and is responsible for this data processing.
The selected painting companies will then contact you by email or phone with a quote. For more complex jobs, they may arrange an on-site visit to assess the areas to be painted.
You'll receive up to four quotes. Compare the quotes at your own pace and choose the one that offers the best value for money.

FAQs
Based on the location you provide, Houzy selects suitable, vetted painting companies from its network in your region. Houzy forwards your request to these companies. You can then receive up to four quotes from painters near you without searching for companies yourself.
Painting companies in Switzerland typically charge 50–140 francs per hour, plus material and travel costs. Many also charge by square metre.
The exact price depends on several factors: the size and condition of the surface, the wall material, and the number of corners and edges. Necessary preparation work – such as covering floors or filling holes – also affects the price. Additional costs can apply for nicotine-stained walls, a second coat or colour changes.
Get at least three quotes for a realistic sense of the cost of your project. Comparing three detailed quotes gives you a good overview of the price range. For a full cost breakdown by square metre, room size and finish, see our painting cost guide.
Not automatically – it depends on your lease and the extent of normal wear and tear. According to the joint lifespan table published by the Swiss Tenants’ Association and the Swiss Homeowners Association, dispersion wall paint has a lifespan of eight years. If the paint needs renewing after this period due to normal wear and tear, the landlord generally covers the cost.
You may have to pay a proportion of the cost for excessive wear or damage, such as nicotine staining. If you’ve painted a wall in a strong colour, you may have to repaint it in a neutral colour when you move out. See our service-life table for tenant damages for details.
Smaller areas can often be painted yourself with the right tools. For larger jobs, high ceilings, demanding surfaces, or health limitations, hiring a professional painting company may be worth it. For tips and a pros-and-cons overview, see our painting guide.
According to the lifespan table from the Swiss Homeowners Association (HEV), interior wall paint typically lasts 8–15 years, while exterior paint lasts 20–25 years, depending on the paint used. Heavily used rooms such as hallways or children's rooms often need repainting sooner.
This depends on the job. Clarify with your painting company in advance who is responsible for which preparation work and when. Get the agreement in writing.
For small or simple jobs, painting companies often provide an initial estimate. If you only need one wall painted, for example, this estimate may be enough.
For larger or more complex jobs, an on-site visit may be needed. The painting company then prepares a quote based on the work required.
Once you’ve compared quotes and chosen a painting company, the work can begin. The painting company carries out the work as agreed.
