From Star Wars and National Geographic to Disney classics: the Disney+ library boasts a range of popular films and series. But how much does a Swiss customer pay for the service, which devices does Disney+ support and what content is available? Comparis has put together an overview for you.
Disney+ is an online streaming service provided by The Walt Disney Company. Disney+ has been available in the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia and New Zealand since 2019. The streaming service has been available in Switzerland since 24 March 2020.
At the moment, there is only one subscription plan available in Switzerland, which you can pay for on a monthly or annual basis. Disney+ costs 12.90 francs per month or 129 francs per year. A subscription includes the following services:
Disney+ offers Swiss customers a free 7-day trial subscription (link in German, French and Italian only). After that, a monthly subscription is automatically taken out unless you cancel on time.
You can cancel your monthly subscription with Disney+ at any time, with effect from the end of the month. The annual subscription, on the other hand, can only be cancelled with effect from the end of the year. You can use your account until the end of the billing cycle. The cancellation option can be found in the settings under Account/Billing details.
Disney+ is available on almost all mobile devices and Internet-enabled TVs – and even on games consoles:
The Disney+ library includes much more than just original productions, as Disney has secured the rights to many popular film and animation studios. These include Pixar, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox. However, some films and series from acquired studios are not yet available on Disney+. This is due to licences that have not yet expired. All together, more than 1,000 titles are available. Up until now, some 25 new original productions, such as The Mandalorian, have been produced. However, rather than releasing new series all at once, Disney+ will make the new episodes available on a weekly basis.
Disney+ content includes:
Yes, you can download and watch all Disney+ content offline. The downloads can be watched for an indefinite period and are always available to you. However, the offline function can only be used on up to 10 devices.
Disney+ offers many original productions but has also bought films and series from other providers. With the launch of “Star” in February 2021, Disney+ has significantly expanded its content with a range of series and films geared specifically towards adult audiences. The price of the basic plan has now overtaken that of Netflix, although high-quality video is included in the standard Disney+ rate. One slight disadvantage is that, unlike Amazon, Disney+ can only be cancelled with effect from the next billing cycle. However, if you are a true fan of Disney or Marvel, Disney+ is probably the choice for you.
