1. What counts as fire damage to my car?

Fire damage to your car can have different causes. For example, fire damage can be caused by:

  • fire

  • lightning

  • explosion

  • short circuit

2. Which insurance covers fire damage to my car?

Fire damage to your car is covered by partial casco insurance. You usually have to pay coinsurance. Usually, only the car’s current value is reimbursed. Some companies also pay for damages caused by extinguishing the fire.

Were there any objects in your vehicle during the fire, such as a mobile phone or luggage? Partial- and full-casco insurance only covers damaged items if you have taken out personal belongings cover.

Damages caused to electrical equipment caused by an internal defect are not covered. In addition, partial casco insurance doesn’t cover damage caused by vandalism. Vandalism is only covered with full casco insurance.
