Phone home – the great prepaid comparison for international calls

Talk to family and friends in your home country without worrying about the costs.

Competition for cheap international calls is intense among providers of prepaid plans. comparis.ch compares 11 interesting plans and options allowing you to make cheap international phone calls from Switzerland.

Providers of prepaid plans such as "Mucho", "Talk Talk" or "Lebara" advertise cheap plans for international calls and specifically target foreigners in Switzerland. While little is happening on the market for monthly plans, it is a whole different story with prepaid plans for foreigners.

"Orange World Prepay", for example, has offered new conditions since late July 2014. And since the beginning of August, Yallo has charged a lot more for calls to European landlines, i.e. 22 centimes per minute instead of the previous rate of 3 centimes.

There are also plans designed for foreigners. However, these are usually a lot more expensive and interesting for frequent users, if anything.

Average time per call: 5 minutes. Cost of billing increments was taken into account. The costs indicated here apply to calls to most EU countries.

Conclusion: Comparatively small, little-known offerings such as "Mucho Mobile" or "Talk Talk Go" are cheapest for calls to European countries. With Orange, one of the three major network operators is also among the providers of low-cost plans.

There are also more expensive providers: customers of market leader Swisscom, for example, pay 72.60 francs with "Natel Easy Smart", i.e. up to 37 times more than with competing providers.

There is also an interesting flat rate for customers who often make international phone calls. It costs only 49 francs per month and is available to prepaid customers of Yallo. Yallo is the only provider of prepaid plans currently offering a flat rate for calls to European countries.
