Right of withdrawal and cooling-off period for loans

According to the Consumer Credit Act, borrowers have 14 days in which they may withdraw from their personal loan agreement in writing.

When this period starts is defined differently by each lender:

  • 14 days from receipt of the agreement, receipt being defined as one day after the date the agreement was posted
  • The day after the date printed on the agreement, plus 14 days

The loan is paid out at the end of this cooling-off period.
