Childhood and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy is a branch of medicine that deals with prevention, diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation in relation to mental and psychosomatic illness in children and adolescents.
Disorders that are treated include ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), personality disorders, autism, tic and obsessive-compulsive disorders, intellectual and motivational diagnostics and eating disorders (e.g. bulimia, anorexia). Therapy is based on a variety of methods, such as play therapy (fantasy and role-play) and, for older children, conversational therapy.
