Haematology focuses on diseases of the blood and the organs that produce the blood, as well as on the interactions between the walls of vessels and the blood.
Haematologists treat acute and chronic leukaemia, malignant changes in the lymph nodes, anaemia and haemophilia. They specialize in transfusion medicine (blood donations) and the production and preparation of blood products (in accordance with the Therapeutic Products Act and the Medicinal Products Licensing Ordinance).
