Moving Planner

The moving planner gives you an overview of the key steps you need to complete before, during and after your move.


  • bullet point 01 Before moving: Complete customs formalities
    Fill in the application form for household effects, provide proof of change of residence and create an inventory of your household goods.

  • bullet point 02 14 days after moving: Register with municipal authority
    Gather the necessary documentation and register with your local municipal authority within 14 days of arriving in Switzerland and prior to your first day of work.

  • bullet point 03 1 month after moving: Register new vehicle
    Apply to the Road Traffic Office of your canton of residence to register any imported car or motorcycle purchased less than 6 months before your relocation.

  • bullet point 04 3 months after moving: Take out health insurance
    Compare premiums of providers of mandatory health insurance and purchase for all persons within 3 months.

  • bullet point 05 12 months after moving: Convert driving licence
    You have a maximum of one year from your arrival date to convert your licence to a Swiss one.

  • bullet point 06 12 months after moving: Register old vehicle
    Apply to register any vehicle purchased more than 6 months before your relocation and imported as removal goods, and take out the necessary car or motorcycle insurance.
