2. How do I choose the right moving company in Basel?

Compare the deals and look at the reviews. This will give you a good idea of where the value for money is best and which company fits your needs.
3. What alternatives are there to a moving company?
An alternative to a moving company is to rent a van. This is cheaper, but also involves more effort.
Companies such as settelen.ch, cargowin.ch or michmieten.ch offer vans for rent in Basel that you can use for your move. They can be rented for a half-day, full-day or over the weekend.
Pay attention to the size and cargo capacity of the van. Make sure that you are allowed to drive the van.
4. How can I reserve a parking space in Basel for my move?
Reserve a parking space
Reserve a parking space through Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police for the day of the move. The cantonal police will then reserve a parking space for you and set up signs. You must place the order at least ten days before the moving date.
The reservation costs 50 francs for the setup work plus 5 francs per day and sign (as of May 2023). Depending on the length of the reserved area, you will need at least two signs.
Saving tip: you can pick up, set up and remove the no-parking signs yourself. This only costs 5 francs plus per day and sign plus 10 francs in deposit fees (as of 2023).
By the way: moving companies usually take care of the parking reservation themselves. This usually does not result in any additional costs.
Buy a visitor parking ticket
Alternatively, you can buy a visitor parking ticket to park in the blue zone. It costs 12 francs for half a day and 20 francs for a full day (as of 2023). Please note: this means that there is no guarantee of a parking space.
