Ittigen ist durch den öffentlichen Verkehr bestens erschlossen: S-Bahn und Buslinien verbinden Ittigen und Worblaufen mit den umliegenden Ortschaften rasch und häufig. Die Reisezeit nach Bern (Hauptbahnhof) beträgt maximal 15 Minuten.
Die S-Bahnlinie Bern-Worb bedient in Ittigen die Haltestellen "Ittigen" und "Papiermühle" alle 15 Minuten - in den Spitzenzeiten morgens und abends sogar rund alle 7 Minuten in beide Richtungen. Buslinien verbinden die Stationen "Ittigen" (Linie 43) und "Papiermühle" (Linie 40/41) mit dem nördlichen Gemeindeteil (Kappelisacker). Vom Bahnhof "Papiermühle" aus führen zudem zwei Busverbindungen (Linie 40/41) nach Bern, mit direktem Anschluss an Bernmobil. Den Bahnhof Worblaufen passieren alle S-Bahnlinien. Die Verbindungen in die umliegenden Ortschaften sowie nach Bern sind sehr gut. Ein Bus führt zudem in das Berner Nordquartier. An Wochenenden werden Ittigen und Worblaufen in der Nacht durch den Moonliner bedient.
