1. Difference between half board, full board and all-inclusive

The difference between all-inclusive, full board and half board is in the meals available:

2. What is half board, full board and all-inclusive plus?

Some hotels offer a plus option in addition to meals. This means that additional services are added to the normal offers.

The premium version of half board and full board also includes:

  • Drinks with meals

  • Coffee and cake

  • Snacks

The offer differs depending on the hotel.

With all-inclusive offers, you usually have a larger selection of alcoholic beverages in the Plus version. The standard version often only includes local or cheap alcoholic beverages.

Meals in the hotel: buffet or à la carte?

Whether there is a buffet or a menu at meals depends on the hotel. The catering option does not matter.

Large hotels in tourist regions however often offer a buffet. This is to cope with the mass of guests.

3. Half board, full board or all-inclusive: what should I book?

Travelling all day? Do you prefer to eat out instead of at the hotel? Then half board is probably the most worthwhile option for you – or no catering at all.

Do you want to relax carefree and keep your expenses under control? Then full board or all-inclusive is the right choice for you.
