In Switzerland, health insurance pays for some medicinal products used in complementary medicine. Basic health insurance covers the expenses for such products less the policyholder's out-of-pocket share if they are on the List of Pharmaceutical Specialties. This list also contains medicines used in phytotherapy, anthroposophy and homoeopathy.
Outpatient supplemental insurance often pays for products not covered by basic health insurance. Enquire directly with your insurer to find out which products are included.
