Die Liegenschaft „zum Citronenbaum" wurde ca. 1453 durch den Kanton Freiburg als Messehaus für die „Freiburger-Gerber" erbaut. 1888 wurde die Liegenschaft durch den Zurzacher Fabrikanten Jakob Zuberbühler erworben und als Renaissacebau mit dem Namen „Citronenbaum", neu erbaut. 1980 erfolgte eine grundlegende Sanierung mit Anbau von ostseitigen Balkonen und einem Lift.
Im Herbst 2023 erlebt die Liegenschaft eine weitere Sanierung. Die Liegenschaft wird an das Fernwärmenetz angeschlossen und erhält neue Fenster. Die Nasszellen und die Küchen werden nach heutigem Standard erneuert. Ein Teil der Wohnungen sind begrenzt hindernisfrei. Das Rauchen im Haus ist untersagt.
Der „Citronenbaum" liegt mitten im Flecken. In einem Radius von 250 Metern sind die Gemeindeverwaltung, diverse Einkaufsläden, der Bahnhof, der Kurpark sowie das Thermalbad erreichbar.
Zur Liegenschaft gehören 2 Garagen (auf Anfrage), pro Wohnung ein Kellerabteil, gemeinsam genutzte Waschküche mit Tumbler.
