Individual: Policyholder

Family: Policyholder and the following persons living in the same household: spouse or partner and their children
Furthermore: domestic staff while at work, and children who live elsewhere, but are registered at the address of their insured parent(s), are undergoing education or professional training and under 25 years of age.

The insured persons are covered in their capacity as:

  • private individuals

  • employed persons at work

  • tenants/renters

  • parties to a contract

  • pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians

  • passengers of a means of transport

  • Tenancy law (for renters)

  • Consumer rights and other contracts

  • Travel law

  • Patient rights

  • Criminal and administrative law (except for offences committed intentionally and not in self-defence or a state of necessity)

Up to CHF 500,000 per insured event or up to CHF 100,000 if the geographical scope of application is "worldwide"; for legal counsel up to CHF 500 (per case)

Other uncovered costs

  • Compensation for damage or personal suffering

Geographical limitations

Depending on the insured area, the cover applies:

  • in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein (up to CHF 500,000),

  • in the EU/EFTA (up to CHF 500,000),

  • worldwide (up to CHF 100,000).

Waiting period

Insurance cover commences on the day after the premium is paid. There is a qualifying period of 3 months for contractual disputes.

Exclusions

Legal cases concerning:

  • labour law if the insured person is an employer, board member or share holder or if he/she shares in the profits

  • ownership rights

  • criminal proceedings for deliberate offences or attempts thereat

  • disputes involving motor vehicles: covered through motor legal protection

  • intellectual property rights

  • debt enforcement and bankruptcy laws

  • collection of receivables

  • disputes resulting from the use of computer software and webhosting

  • disputes between persons who are insured under the same policy

  • disputes resulting from the policyholder's capacity as professional athlete or coach

  • proceedings before international and supranational courts

Choice of legal representative

The policyholder may freely choose a locally responsible lawyer if calling in an external lawyer is deemed necessary from a time- and case-related perspective.

Procedures in case of futility or differences in opinion

Arbitration proceedings are possible. The regulations of the Swiss Code of Civil Procedure apply.

Notice of cancellation

Notice of cancellation must be handed in 3 months before the annual due-date at the latest.

Contract term

According to term of insurance as stated in the policy (only annual contracts with automatic renewal).

Action in case of a claim

The insured person reports the legal incident as soon as possible. For further legal steps or the involvement of a lawyer, the insurance company has to be consulted.

  • Disputes resulting from the use of offerings in the area of combined mobility (car-sharing and ride-sharing systems)
