2. How we work

How our marketplaces and comparisons work

  • Comparis empowers you to compare the prices, features, rates, extras and details of different products and services at a glance. This applies not only to our marketplaces, but also to our comparisons in the health insurance, other insurance, banking and telecommunications sectors.

  • We want you to find the product or service that is right for you. That’s why it’s important to us to show you all the available deals in a given market. To do this, Comparis also compares the products and services of providers who do not wish to appear in the comparisons, or who do not have a contractual relationship with us.

  • In the interests of clarity, we do not repeat the same deal several times. If various sellers are offering the same product (such as a car) at the same price, we will only show you the one price. The individual sellers will then be listed individually.

  • If you are interested in a product, Comparis forwards your enquiry to the seller on your behalf. The quote you receive is free of charge.

How the Comparis Rating works

The Comparis Rating offers our users a point of reference. It is measured using the Swiss school marking system. We distinguish between two types of rating:

Comparis Rating for insurance and mortgages

This reflects customer satisfaction in a given market. The rating is based on a representative survey that we conduct every year to find out how satisfied customers are with the providers they have used. You can find the results of the Comparis Rating surveys for these areas:

Comparis Rating for the vehicle marketplace

This assesses how attractive an advertised property or vehicle is from a financial perspective, and is also calculated independently. To do this, the prices of the vehicles or properties advertised are compared with average market prices. If the advertised selling price matches the market price, the listing receives the rating 4.5 (satisfactory). A product or listing with a rating of 6 indicates an attractive deal that is less than the calculated market price.

It features expert analysis of political issues from the consumer perspective. Prior to each parliamentary session, copies are sent to all 246 Members of Parliament and around 750 further decision-makers from the media, government, business and academic communities.

The authors at Comparis

In addition to the experts, our authors reveal tips and tricks for your everyday life. Whether it’s about health insurance, taxes or travel – we can help you with our articles and guides.

4. How Comparis earns money – and how it doesn’t

Our comparisons and services are free of charge for our customers. To keep it that way, just like any other company we have to earn an income. The sources of this income are described below:

✅ Paid product placement ✅ Advertising ✅ Quote and contact enquiries
Some deals are highlighted visually in our comparisons and results. These are additional advertising inserts that are clearly distinct from the other deals. They do not affect the order of the results. Another source of finance is digital advertising, such as banners. These ads are clearly marked as “Advert” on comparis.ch and in our emails. We pass on your enquiry in your name to the provider you are interested in. The provider pays us a set amount for this. In return, providers are able to reduce their customer acquisition and administrative costs significantly.

Since transparency is very important to us, the areas in which we have made a policy decision not to earn income are described below:

❌ Selling data ❌ Ranking of deals ❌ Research and analyses
Our top priority is to protect your personal data. We handle your data with care, in accordance with our data privacy statement. Unless you specifically ask us to do so when you request a quote from our comparisons, for example, we do not pass any customer data on to third parties. Comparis is not for sale, and neither are placements in the rankings that we present to you. The rankings of products or services that you see always correspond to the information you have given and the filter criteria you have chosen. Paid product placements and the deals under the heading “most affordable products with quote request option” are clearly separate from the rankings themselves. Our experts are incorruptible. They work independently and report impartially.
