Life insurance risk check-up / health check-up

Your current state of health is a relevant factor when applying for life insurance. You will therefore be asked to fill in a questionnaire or have your health checked by a doctor.

The health check-up is the examination of the health condition of the insured person. The health condition is relevant for the insurance company as personal insurance covers individual risks of which the scope depends significantly on the health condition at the date of entry.

In most cases, the health check-up is carried out with the help of a questionnaire that has to be filled in and signed by the insured person. In the case of high insurance sums or health-related results that are already known at commencement of contract, a more precise examination takes place via a medical opinion or questioning of the doctor treating the patient (given the dispense from confidentiality).
