  • Minima (contents insurance)

    Fire
    Additional cover against damage to home contents due to scorching caused by cooking or heating fire or other sources of heat; up to CHF 5000. Loss or damage caused by crashing aircraft and spacecraft is also included.


    Theft
    Burglary, robbery and simple theft at home. Any vehicle that was broken into or cases of pickpocketing and theft by trickery are considered simple theft outside the home (optional cover for up to CHF 1000).


    Water
    Cover includes damage to home contents caused by:

    • water leaking from pipes, installations and connected machines that serve the building at the insured address
    • water leaking from fish tanks, ornamental fountains, waterbeds and air humidifiers
    • rain, snowmelt and melt water
    • groundwater, slope water or backwater from the drainage system


    Glass breakage
    Broken glass panes, acrylic glass or glass-like materials cannot be insured.


    Payment limits

    • Cover for monetary values (excluding simple theft): up to CHF 1000
    • Cover for jewellery in case of simple theft at home and burglary: up to CHF 1000
    • Cover for expenses for changing locks, emergency repair of broken glass, emergency door, clearing and disposal, replacement of documents such as IDs, passports, credit cards: up to 20 per cent of the sum insured under contents insurance, at least CHF 10,000
    • Damage to frozen food due to an accidental thawing of the freezer is not covered
    • Skis and bicycles are not included in the cover against simple theft away from home
    • Damaged and lost luggage cannot be insured

    The deductible is generally CHF 400 (CHF 500 for natural hazards).

This includes ceramic hobs, kitchen worktops, coverings in bathrooms and around fireplaces, sinks, wash basins, bath tubs, dome lights, glass parts of solar panels and photovoltaic systems, etc.

    Payment limits

    • Cover for monetary values (excluding simple theft): up to CHF 5,000
    • Cover for jewellery in case of simple theft at home and burglary: up to CHF 30,000

      The insurance covers the policyholder's liability as:

      • a tenant of self-occupied residential buildings, living quarters and jointly used parts of buildings
      • renters of hotel rooms and holiday homes
      • renters or owners of mobile homes or non-registered caravans that have a permanent location
      • owners of self-occupied property including premises with a maximum of three living units
      • in the case of freehold flats (condos), the part exceeding the amount guaranteed by the owners' association's liability insurance is covered
      • principal's liability for renovations up to a construction sum of CHF 100,000
      • renters or owners of undeveloped property such as allotments, forest, etc. up to 1000 m2

      Coverage for children

      • Individual insurance also includes minor children that stay with the policyholder on a temporary basis
      • In the case of family insurance, coverage includes children (including adopted children, stepchildren and foster children), provided they are not gainfully employed and and that they live in the same household as the policyholder either permanently or as a weekly resident regularly returning to the shared household.
