Palliative care

Palliative care covers medical treatment, nursing interventions and psychological, social and spiritual support for people with terminal, life-threatening and/or chronically progressive diseases, when recovery from the disease is no longer considered possible. It is covered by basic health insurance. The aims are to prevent suffering and complications, to ensure the best possible quality of life for the patient in their circumstances until they die and to provide support for family and close friends.
