Independence in retirement – what you need to know

Spitex in Switzerland

Spitex is not a protected term. The name is simply derived from the German “spitalextern” and refers to health care, help, support and advice provided outside hospitals or nursing homes, usually in the client’s home. There are 577 public Spitex organizations, 289 private ones and 1,105 self-employed nursing professionals in Switzerland (Federal Statistical Office (BFS), as at 2017, in French and German only). They all promote, support and enable living at home for people of all age groups who depend on help to do so.

How the Spitex directory at Comparis works

This directory includes providers that accept contact requests from Comparis and providers that do not accept contact requests from Comparis. The providers in this directory have published data which Comparis can access via the following service providers (OPAN; Webways). The search results are ranked according to objectively measurable criteria. This includes, for example, the option to register online, or information on the admission of new patients. The prioritization of these objectively measurable criteria may change for testing purposes.
