Working in Switzerland

Switzerland is an attractive country for employees – good salaries and a low unemployment rate characterise the job market. Also in economically difficult times, Switzerland has a constant shortage of qualified employees.

The total work hours per week are on average 42 hours – slightly higher than abroad. In the end, it depends on the job, the canton of residence, the industry and especially on the employer. Employees are entitled to four weeks of holidays, however, a lot of employers also offer five weeks. Due to the good salaries, part-time jobs are very common in Switzerland. Many employers pay their employees a 13th monthly salary. In the case of an average salary, about one monthly salary has to be calculated for taxes.

Most vacant jobs in Switzerland are advertised on online job platforms. For example, with a search subscription, you will be informed regularly about new vacancies. Find a selection of online addresses here:

Also before moving to Switzerland you can compare the premiums for your required insurances such as health insurance or car insurance - and find the cheapest provider. The New Arrival Assistant thereby reminds you automatically of all important dates.
