Questions on Telecommunications

  • Can I change moblile providers and still keep my old number?
It is possible to change mobile providers and keep your current number. This procedure is called number porting.

On comparis.ch you can compare which subscription best meets your requirements. Basically, when you conclude a new contract, you terminate your current contract with a special form. Please take the termination conditions (see contract and the General Terms and Conditions) of your current provider into consideration.

It is also possible to terminate the contract beforehand by registered letter. comparis.ch offers you a termination letter to print out. Send it registered to your mobile network provider.
  • How can I save money on fixed network calls?

Swisscom is still the most expensive provider for many calls, especially for calls outside of Switzerland. This is why it is often worth switching to a different provider. You may save from 50% to 80% off your regular phone bills.

On comparis.ch you can easily compare and find out which provider is cheapest for you.

It won't cost you a thing to switch to a cheaper provider: this can be done quickly and your number will stay the same, since your line will still be connected by Swisscom. After registering you will automatically phone through your new provider (preselection). Alternatively, with some providers you can register for call-by-call: Here you have to enter the provider's 5-digit code before the telephone number.

  • Do prices listed by comparis.ch appear to be wrong?

comparis.ch is continuously checking and updating the database.

In by far the most cases, comparis.ch is not to blame for false information. Providers often add connection charges in addition to the published rates or round to the nearest 10 centimes. These effects can be quite large.

comparis.ch also takes these costs into consideration.

    Example:

    • Swisscom always charge in 10 centimes intervals, i.e.costs are rounded up to the nearest 10 centimes. Therefore you will never pay the 4 centimes that Swisscom claim in their ads.
    • Sunrise, Tele2 and other providers charge a basic fee per connection (call set-up charge). Per national call 3 to 10 centimes are added, per international call up to 1 franc. However, should you come across an error not explicable by such factors, please let us know by E-Mail. Include the following information: provider, product, desired destination and description of the error.
  • Which is the cheapest mobile subscription available?

Unfortunately, there is no single correct answer to this question, since it depends on your call profile. You can compare mobile tariffs on comparis.ch.

  • Where can I compare costs for Voice-Over-IP?

comparis.ch offer a comparison for Voice-Over-IP (also known as VoIP or Internet telephony). A broadband Internet connection, such as ADSL or cable is required for Voice-Over-IP.
