Best health insurer in Switzerland 2023

Health insurance premiums increase each year. The reason for this is the constant rise in the cost of healthcare. This makes it all the more important not only to make sure you have the right deductible and premium for your needs, but also to choose the best health insurer.

This year, comparis.ch has once again surveyed the Swiss population to assess how satisfied they are with their basic health insurance. In May 2023, market research institute Intervista canvassed the opinions of over 3,400 people from all four language regions in Switzerland.

They assessed the following aspects:

  • Value for money

  • Benefits: quality and service

  • Information/communication/transparency

  • Convenience of touchpoints and contacts

  • Overall satisfaction

A weighted average is calculated using aspects 1 to 4 plus 5.

All responses about a provider are added up to get an overall score for each individual respondent. A provider’s final rating is then calculated based on the rounded average of all these overall scores. The final ratings given by comparis.ch are based on the Swiss school system, where 6 is the best and 1 is the worst grade awarded.

Comparis also awards additional quality labels to health insurers: “Ethical Customer Acquisition” and “No Telemarketing”. What’s more, Comparis has been awarding its Efficiency Award since 2015. This award goes to the Swiss health insurers with the lowest administrative costs.
