In contrast to out-patient treatment, in-patients stay at the hospital over night.
Examples of in-patient treatment:
- Hospital stays
- Stays at a psychiatric hospital
- Stays at a rehabilitation clinic or wellness therapy centre
- Stays at a nursing home
If an in-patient treatment is indicated for medical reasons and considered a standard insurance benefit, the costs are covered by basic health insurance and/or supplemental hospital insurance minus a contribution to costs.
