With each new health problem (except for emergencies or gynaecological routine examinations), policyholders must call an information line before consulting a physician. They will either receive information about how to deal with the problem or will be advised to consult a doctor or the hospital for treatment. Such telephone consultations aim to cut costs. Holders of the Telmed insurance model pay lower premiums than holders of standard basic insurance (up to 15%).
