Standard basic health insurance is the mandatory health insurance provided by all Swiss health insurance companies. The coverage is identical irrespective of the health insurance company. It is possible to consult the doctor of your choice. However, further insurance models are available: HMO model (up to 25% discount) General practitioner model   (up to 20% discount) Telmed (up to 15% discount) Other models (up to 10% discount) A discount in premium is granted for the general practitioner and HMO insurance models, as the choice of doctor is limited. All insurance models cover the same services.
