Please take note of the Comparis survey "Re-entry,
infection and error rates in Swiss hospitals" (only in German).
Re-entries (unplanned):
The interviewees stated if they had to go back to hospital unplanned or as an emergecy after their hospital
stay due to the same illness.
Infections:
The interviewees stated if they had suffered from an infection in hospital.
Errors:
The interviewees stated if errors had occured during their treatment or care at hospital.
Significances:
comparis.ch rounded the published re-entry, infection and error rates per hospital off to whole percentage numbers.
100% correspond to all questioned patients of the particular hospital.
„+“ means: the re-entry rate / infection rate / error rate in this hospital
is significantly lower than the average
of the 53 compared hospitals ("Swiss Hospital").
„-“ means: means: the re-entry rate / infection rate / error rate in this hospital
is significantly lower than the average
of the 53 compared hospitals ("Swiss Hospital").
The different rates between the individual hospitals often to not differ significantly.
Therefore they are not suited to make up
a ranking.
Combined re-entry, infection and error rate:
For the survey of the combined re-entry, infection and error rate at least one of the
unwanted events of re-entry (unplanned), infection or error had to have occured from the patient's
point of view. The combined re-entry, infection and error rate is an "or-connection" of re-entry, infection and error rates.
Important: All results are based on the statements of patients and not on medically surveyed indicators.
comparis.ch neither valued nor assessed these statements. comparis.ch could not verify the patients' statements as the
survey was done anonymously. Also, comparis.ch did not present the results to the hospitals before publishing the
study, as these cannot give out information on patients' data.
The questioned patients had stated that they had to re-enter the hospital unplanned or as a case of emergency,
that they had suffered an infection or that an error had occured during their treatment or care.
The patients' statements refer to their last hospital stay in the last 12 months before the survey was made.
