For supplementary hospital insurances there are two different systems for determining the introductory premium and the premium course.
The usual system for supplementary hospital insurances is the age tariff<\b>. According to this tariff, premiums depend on age, and therefore risk. Younger and healthier policyholders profit from relatively low premiums. Premiums increase with age.
The admission age tariff distributes the risk of higher costs for older ages onto the entire expected duration of the insurance. Thus, costs are relatively high for younger policyholders, but increase at a lower rate than for the age tariff.
These two systems may appear in a mixed form; here, the age tariff is used up to a certain age, then the admission age tariff is used. |
