I am an international student in the university of Bern for Master degree now. I want to apply or buy insurance according to Swiss law. My health condition is good. Could you give me some information for HMO insurance?... How can I apply and how much do I have to pay per month?... Can I take money back in the future?

Hello, comparis.ch is not an insurance but offers you online comparison tools. People who are resident in Switzerland due to education or further education, notably students or trainees, can be releaved from the compulsory basic insurance for at most 3 years if a request is submitted to the according cantonal authorities. Relief from compulsory insurance is only possible if the person has an equivalent insurance from their country of origin for the whole period of validity of the relief. A written confirmation with the required information from the responsible foreign authority has to be attached to the request. KVV, Art. 2 Para. 4 comparis.ch recommends a comparison as the compulsory Swiss basic insurance might be cheaper than an equivalent insurance from the country of origin. You can compare health insurance premiums on the following link: http://en.comparis.ch/Krankenkassen/default.aspx Here you have the possibility to order an online offer from various health insurances. You will receive the offers directly from the health insurance companies. From the date of the offer order comparis.ch does not have any influence anymore on the further processing. Generally the health insurance companies send information on their address and contact person with their offer. Please directly contact the health insurance company after having received the offer. HMO is a health insurance model offered by several insurances. The policyholder is required to consult a certain physician practising in a HMO centre, if he falls ill. This doctor is called a "gatekeeper". Emergencies are exceptions to this rule. Kind regards, comparis.ch
