"Water" is one of the four basic insurances which are included in the household insurance. The water insurance covers damages caused by water and similar liquids from water pipes and fittings / devices connected to them, for example aquariums, waterbeds or decorative fountains. Also covered are damages caused by rainwater, snow, melting and frost as well as damages caused by water from exterior downpipes, roof gutters, through the roof, ground water or backwater from the sewerage. Damages from heat exchanging devices are generally also insured. However, sometimes therefore also a supplementary settlement is necessary. Damages due to floodwaters are covered as events due to natural forces by the household insurance as well.
