This is the wrongful claim of a material object occurring peacefully; violence is geared neither at persons (robbery) nor objects (breaking in and entering). The perpetrator of simple theft does not have to overcome large hurdles to reach the desired item (balcony door or window may be open, etc.). Such cases are protected by basic insurance. However, certain coverage limitations apply. For example, unsecured cash and other monetary values are not covered. Simple theft occurring outside the house, however, often has to be covered with supplementary insurance. Whilst damage in the case of simple theft at home is covered by the insured sum, the sums for simple theft outside the house are insurable with selectable sums of generally CHF 2,000.00 to CHF 5,000.00.
