Glass breakage

The insurance covers breakage of glass or glass substitutes for:

  • Glazing in furniture: damage to ceramic hobs, glass hobs of induction cookers, stone tabletops, kitchen worktops made of stone, sanitary installations (washbasins, sinks, lavatories including cisterns, bidets, bathtubs and shower trays) made of glass, synthetic material, ceramic, porcelain or stone, including installation costs. Damage to enamel is also covered.

  • Glazing in buildings, which also includes damage to domed rooflights and solar panels.

Household contents accidental damage insurance

  • This insurance covers items for private use against sudden and unforeseen damage due to external factors. Examples: mobile phones, laptops/PCs/ tablets, sports equipment, valuables, musical instruments, jewellery, hearing aids etc.

  • Choice of sums insured: CHF 2,000

Home Assistance

A comprehensive package of domestic assistance services, e.g. for repairs to electrical and heating installations or to pipes or door locks. Helpline for psychosocial support (e.g. following a burglary). Animal info line and Travel Care info line.

Limitations of cover

  • Expenses (changing locks, emergency replacement doors, hotel expenses, etc.): up to 20% of the agreed sum insured for household contents, minimum CHF 10,000. Simple theft: max. CHF 1,000

  • High-value contents (excluding simple theft): max. CHF 5,000

  • Jewellery/watches: 15% of the sum insured for household contents, max. CHF 35,000

Conditions applicable when driving other vehicles

Basic insurance: the insurance only covers claims made against the insured person as a passenger or person legally required to accompany a learner driver. What is covered:

  • Loss of motor liability insurance bonus up to a maximum of double the annual premium

  • Damage caused as a passenger to a third-party motor vehicle. If this is covered by an existing accidental damage insurance policy, any excess and any premium increase will be paid.

Supplementary insurance: the insurance covers claims as a driver of vehicles borrowed occasionally, i.e. not on a regular basis:

  • Loss of motor liability insurance bonus up to a maximum of double the annual premium

  • Collision damage to the actual vehicle used

  • Excesses up to CHF 1,000 (excluded if the driver is not in possession of a permanent Swiss driving licence)

  • If full casco insurance has been taken out, the excess and loss of bonus are insured in the event of collision damage to the vehicle used.

  • In the case of condominium owners, the part exceeding the amount guaranteed by the third party liability insurance taken out by the association of condominium owners is insured.

  • Principal's liability insurance for conversion work up to CHF 100,000.

The first annual premium for personal liability insurance is waived; the standard payment is required from the second year onwards.
