It is estimated that there will be a premium increase of less than 3% in the year to come. This prediction comes from a survey by comparis.ch of the major health insurance providers. Around 70% of Swiss policy holders are insured with these providers. The 3% premium increase is however an initial prognosis. A weighted projection will only be possible when the health insurance providers' detailed premiums become available.
The prognosis is also only an average value. The premium increase may be considerably higher for individual policy holders. The extent of the premium increase depends above all on the age of the policy holder, the health insurance provider and the place of residence, as well as the selected franchise and insurance model. A comparison is therefore always recommended.
Anyone who has to accept a higher premium charge has the right to respond, for example by switching to an alternative insurance model or a more affordable health insurance provider. If someone is healthy and has low healthcare costs, the franchise can also be increased. There is still plenty of time to take these measures. It is possible to switch health insurance provider up until the end of November.
