In the case of insured replacement value supplement, the compensation in the case of an insured total loss is not calculated according to the momentarily valid current value. A higher percentage rate is used. With this, the high loss in value of the first years of a vehicle is cushioned. This is more expensive – however, is worthwhile in the case of a total loss as the replacement value supplement of most insurance products is about 20 percent higher than the current value. Today, most comprehensive insurance products replace a vehicle up to its seventh year of operation automatically with replacement value supplement. (Exception: AXA Winterthur with the product Auto Basic, click2drive with the product "Nullpromille"). Basler, Vaudoise, Allianz24.ch and TCS also insure the replacement value supplement after the tenth year of operation.
