Accident and passenger accident insurance:
- covers treatment costs for hospital stays in semi-private and private wards,
- pays salary compensation for hospital stays or for inability to work
- pays compensation in case of death
- pays compensation in case of disability.
This insurance may be bought separately for drivers or all passengers.
Tip:
- Persons living in Switzerland must either be accident-insured by the health insurance or through the employer. Also persons who are in Switzerland with a Schengen visum must have taken out health and accident insurance. This coverage therefore only makes sense for persons who often have guests from abroad in their car who do not need a visum or who are from a country without compulsory insurance.
- It is worthwhile to check the existing accident coverage.
