1. Compare premiums
In the premium overview of the Comparis Car Insurance Comparison you can see at a glance if changing insurance is worthwhile. With a click onto the + sign you can see the premium details. The mark rates service, customer satisfaction and bonus system of the insurance product. A click onto the insurance shows information on the product.
2. Which coverage should I take out?
- Third party insurance: Third party insurance is compulsory and regulated by law.
- Hull insurance: Check if your vehicle still needs a partial cover and collision insurance (comprehensive insurance). Generally, the following rule applies: the older a vehicle is, the less collision insurance is worthwhile.
3. Increase retention?
The Retention for third party insurance depends on the driving experience of the driver and is therefore not selectable freely. For hull insurance it is selectable. A higher retention for collision damage reduces the premium significantly more than a high retention in partial cover insurance. Therefore, this is more worthwhile.
4. Premium saving models
Premium saving models additionally increase the saving potential. Thereby different limitations can be binding, e.g. repair at a contract garage, no drink-driving (zero permille tolerance), installation of a crash recorder or compensation only at current value. Therefore please read the footnotes on the result page.
5. Requesting and reviewing offers
Compare the offers exactly with your requirements:
- Do the insured benefits and retentions in the offer match your request/your wishes?
- How low is the bonus level?
- Do you have to take over additional retention in the case of claims abroad?
- If you would like stationary insurance: check the conditions. Depending on the vehicle age you cannot take our stationary insurance or only with constraints.
- Especially when it comes to coverage of theft and collision claims, take a closer look at compensation in the case of total loss (Replacement value supplement).
- Select a short validity periodin order to be able to benefit from cheaper offers faster.
6. Change insurance
You can change the insurance in the following cases:
- Expiration of contract (Request termination reminder)
- Premium change (increase, sometimes als reduction)
- Change of owner
- Change of vehicle
- Damage claim
Termination period: keep the usual 3-month termination deadline in mind. It is omitted in the case of a premium increase. In this case, your termination must reach the insurance company latest on the last day of the insurance year as a registered letter.
Quickly create a termination letter: use the template.
