Personal belongings / carried objects

This coverage is part of comprehensive insurance and usually covers the following damage:

  • Damage to or destruction of personal items belonging to the driver and passengers, provided that the vehicle has been damaged in a way which is covered by the comprehensive insurance.
  • Theft, if these belongings were in the completely locked vehicle at the time.

Cash, credit cards, stocks and bonds, subscriptions and tickets, jewellery, precious stones and objects of art are not covered.
Computer hard and software, portable phones and walkie-talkies, consumer electronics devices and fax machines are not covered either by many insurance companies.
Belongings needed for work are also excluded from this kind of coverage.

The extent of coverage is usually limited.

Tip:

These benefits are, in connection with theft, often also covered by household insurance.
