If you wish to buy insurance, you must apply first.
Some insurance companies only accept applications in writing (via application form), others also offer applications electronically and require your personal signature on the printout and some will even accept fully electronic applications.
After you have signed or sent your application, the insurer must decide whether or not to accept you as a customer within 14 days. If they do not contact you after this time, you are automatically free of commitments and may withdraw your application.
Applicants must answer questions asked by the insurer fully and truthfully ( compulsory declaration). Answers given enable the insurer to assess your risk and set a premium rate.
There are insurance companies that, formally speaking, make an application directly to the customer. This is usually taken as tacitly accepted, if proof of insurance is deposited at the responsible road traffic licensing department.
Failure to declare information: Answer all questions on the application form truthfully. If you do not, the insurer can deny claims in case of damage and withdraw from your contract, even after several years.
If you have not answered questions honestly, you are not entitled to claims and therefore not really insured- according to law, only those who answer correctly must be covered by the insurer. In the worst cases, the insurer can reclaim coverage already provided. Paid premiums do not have to be refunded.
