In 1925, Gottlieb Duttweiler and his 16 employees took to the road with five vending carts – to bring a revolution to the Swiss retail market. Thanks to skipping intermediary trade, he could sell the product cheaper than the competition.
In 1948, the first self-service Migros store was opened.
Today, Migros employs almost 80,000 people.
